The End of the PurposeWP Brand
I’m super excited to announce that my wife, Sheryle Gillihan, and I have acquired CauseLabs, a Public Benefit Corporation, and will be folding all of PurposeWP’s products and services into the CauseLabs brand.
I began freelancing in 2009 and have always looked for ways to join forces with my wife to work together. PurposeWP was created out of a mutual desire to create a positive impact in our community and beyond, and as a platform for us to build a family business.
During the same time, Sheryle moved from an executive position in the FinTech space to take on a project management role at CauseLabs.
In the last 9 years, we have both grown in our roles and have always looked for ways to collaborate.
PurposeWP has provided our WordPress expertise to an array of local and global organizations. We have worked directly with small local nonprofits to provide strategy and web services. We have developed platforms for multinational organizations to provide a global space for open discourse without fear of persecution. We are proud to say that our services have directly and positively touched the lives of more than a million people around the world.
Sheryle’s journey with CauseLabs has taken her across the globe and back. She started as Project Manager and has steadily grown with the company until 2016 when she was asked to take over as Chief Executive Officer.
CauseLabs is a technology company that helps organizations scale their impact. They have partnered with a myriad of global organizations over the last 14 years and average close to $2M in annual revenue. CauseLabs is currently in a growth trajectory and is looking forward to new partnerships as the two companies come together.
The Future to Come
Existing PurposeWP customers with website care plans will see no immediate changes. In the coming months, we will migrate our customer portal to the causelabs.com domain. We will be sure to give you plenty of advance knowledge of any changes taking effect.
At CauseLabs, we are still developing our strategy for marketing WordPress oriented services. We are excited to be launching our hosted WordPress for nonprofits service, Launch for Good, in the coming weeks.
To learn more about the acquisition, read Sheryle’s post on the CauseLabs Journal.
We will continue to be deeply involved in our local community through events and education. Get involved with us at some of the events we regularly participate in:

I can’t say how thankful I am to our many clients, partners, advisors, mentees, and mentors that have helped us get to this point. I look back fondly and am content. I look forward eagerly and am excited to begin this new chapter of my life working hand in hand with my best friend and some of the best people in the world.
